چکیده

We have developed a method to measure the electric field standing wave distributions in a microwave resonator using a scanned perturbation technique. Fast and reliable solutions to the Helmholtz equation (and to the Schrödinger equation for two dimensional systems) with arbitrarily-shaped boundaries are obtained. We use a pin perturbation to image primarily the microwave electric field amplitude, and we demonstrate the ability to image broken time-reversal symmetry standing wave patterns produced with a magnetized ferrite in the cavity. The whole cavity, including areas very close to the walls, can be imaged using this technique with high spatial resolution over a broad range of frequencies. 41.20.-q, 03.65.Ge, 84.40.Zc, 73.23.-b, 74.40.+k Typeset using REVTEX

Low-cost Vector Network Analyzer for Biomedical Applications

A low-cost and portable vector network analyzer (VNA) which covered operating frequency between 1MHz to 3GHz is used for vector reflection coefficient and standing wave ratio (swr) of the various microstrip antennas. This paper presents measurements of various ultra wideband (uwb) microstrip antennas for applications in biomedical field. Selection of antenna is an important key for detection of...

Comparative Description of the Microwave Surface Impedance of Nb, BaKBiO, and YBaCuO

Measurements of microwave impedance versus temperature, Zs(Tj, in Nb, Bao 6Ko 4Bi03, and YBa2Cu307-s are given. The measurements were made by the "hot finger" cavity perturbation technique. The electromagnetic properties of Nb are in a good quantitative agreement with the isotropic s-wave BCS theory. This mortel can aise descrihe the experimental

Electron density and collision frequency of microwave-resonant-cavity-produced discharges

A review of perturbation diagnostics applied to microwave resonant cavity discharges is presented. The classical microwave perturbation technique examines the shift in the resonant frequency and cavity quality factor of the resonant cavity caused by low-electron density discharges. However, the modifications presented allow the analysis to be applied to discharges with electron densities beyond...

Lauber et al [1] experimentally studied the pattern of Berry phases that emerges when a microwave cavity is cyclically deformed around a rectangular shape. Standing electromagnetic waves in the cavity can be mapped and the “wave functions” followed through the cyclic deformation to measure the Berry phase. Apart from the Berry phases, which were primarily of interest in ref [1], those authors a...

Heating Performance Assessment of Domestic Microwave Ovens

Due to inherent nature of standing wave patterns of microwaves inside a cavity and dielectric properties of different components in a food, microwave heating leaves non-uniform distribution of energy inside the food volumetrically. Achieving heating uniformity plays critical role in improving the safety of microwave heated products. In this paper, we present a method for assessing heating unifo...
